First things first- if the name Joel Salatin means as much to you as me saying Marmy Pumpkernickle, stop reading and go to Google right now. Then, visit Amazon.com and buy his book Folks, This Ain't Normal.
Now that you own the book, I'll let you know how much i love it and get you waiting in anticipation for that smiling cardboard box to arrive on your doorstep. My mother gave me this book for Christmas last year. While she has been telling me about Salatin and singing his praises for a couple of years, I was practicing being a stereotypical daughter and not really paying the recommendations much attention. Swallowing my pride, I'm now publicly telling everyone about Salatin and sharing my own praises (so, sorry mom- I should have listened to you this time and many many others).
I'm only a few chapters in, but this quote is one I came across that is monumental to the argument of why we should be friends with our farmers and connected to our food.
